Personal Statement

I admire the personal courage it takes to seek out therapy and talk about what you hold as most important. I believe in your ability and desire to create what you want. I want to help you do that. I am committed to helping people develop self-understanding and permanent change in the shortest period of time with the most powerful techniques available.


Towards that end, I have continued training in a variety of healing modalities ranging from traditional techniques such as art/play therapy and cognitive restructuring to highly effective leading-edge therapies such as Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT).


EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a specialized therapy used to overcome the effects of traumatic or upsetting experiences that result in many of the fears and limiting beliefs that interfere with our living a healthy, joy-full and satisfying life.

EMDR combines several of the more traditional therapeutic methods - psychodynamic, cognitive, behavioral, etc. - with eye movements or other forms of bilateral stimulation such as hand taps to recognize root causes, desensitize emotional and physical pain associated with those hurtful experiences and form a new, realistic belief about oneself and expectations of life.

Psychologist Francine Shapiro originated EMDR in the late 1980s and continues to develop and refine the process with ongoing extensive research. While no single approach in mental health is always successful, or with every sort of disorder, EMDR practitioners and their clients often report remarkable results in much less time than standard psychotherapeutic care. EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques) is a more recent discovery that has provided thousands with relief from physical and emotional issues. Simply stated, it is a unique version of acupuncture except you don't use needles. Instead, you stimulate well established energy meridian points on your body by tapping them with your fingers.
